Information We Collect and Store
Health Data You Create
When you use GutTrack, you create and store the following types of health information locally on your device:
- Food and meal entries
- Urine color tracking data
- Bowel movement records (Bristol Stool Scale classifications)
- Fluid intake measurements
- Weight measurements
- Medication and dosage information
- Timestamps and notes associated with entries
Important: All of this health data is stored exclusively on your device (iOS or Android). We do not transmit this information to our servers, and we do not have access to your health data.
Cloud Synchronization (Optional)
GutTrack offers optional cloud synchronization to back up and sync your health data across your devices. The cloud service used depends on your platform:
iOS - Apple iCloud
On iOS devices, GutTrack uses Apple's iCloud service to synchronize your health data across your personal Apple devices (if you have iCloud enabled). This synchronization is:
- Encrypted end-to-end by Apple
- Controlled entirely by your iCloud account settings
- Stored in your personal iCloud storage space
- Not accessible to Syntaxys Technologies
Please refer toApple's Privacy Policy for information about how Apple handles iCloud data.
Android - Google Drive
On Android devices, GutTrack can optionally use Google Drive to synchronize your health data across your devices (if you enable this feature and sign in with your Google account). This synchronization is:
- Encrypted in transit and at rest by Google
- Stored in your personal Google Drive's private app data folder
- Only accessible through your Google account
- Hidden from your regular Drive files (stored in the app-specific data space)
- Not accessible to Syntaxys Technologies
Please refer toGoogle's Privacy Policy for information about how Google handles Drive data.
Important: We do not control, access, or manage your cloud data. Cloud synchronization is entirely optional and can be enabled or disabled at any time in the app settings.
Health App Integration (iOS Only)
On iOS devices, GutTrack integrates with Apple HealthKit to sync weight data. Specifically:
- Weight measurements can be read from and written to Apple Health
- You control which permissions to grant through iOS Settings
- All HealthKit data remains on your device and in your iCloud (if enabled)
- Syntaxys Technologies does not receive or access your HealthKit data
Please refer toApple's Privacy Policy for information about how Apple handles HealthKit data.
Note: This feature is only available on iOS. Android does not currently have health app integration, but this may be added in future versions.
Apple Watch App (iOS Only)
GutTrack includes a companion app for Apple Watch that allows you to quickly log health data directly from your wrist:
- Log food, fluids, bowel movements, urine color, weight, medications, and exercise
- View daily statistics and tracking summaries
- Watch complications for quick access
- All data logged on Apple Watch is stored on your iPhone
- Synchronized with the iPhone app via Apple's WatchConnectivity framework
- No data is transmitted to our servers
The Apple Watch app accesses the same local data stored on your iPhone and follows the same privacy principles outlined in this policy.
iOS Widgets
GutTrack provides Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets for iOS that display your health tracking data:
- Hydration widget - Shows daily fluid intake progress
- Weight widget - Displays current weight and trends
- Streak widget - Shows your tracking consistency
- Daily Summary widget - Overview of today's entries
- Widgets read data from your local device storage only
- No data is transmitted externally when widgets are displayed
- Widgets update automatically based on your logging activity
Widgets access your health data locally to provide at-a-glance information without opening the app. All widget data remains on your device.
Local Notifications
GutTrack may request permission to send you local notifications for:
- Reminders to log your meals, fluids, or medications (if you enable them)
- Daily tracking prompts (optional)
- All notifications are generated locally on your device
- No notification data is sent to our servers
- You can disable notifications at any time through your device settings
Notification permissions are optional and controlled entirely by you through your device's system settings.
Information We Do NOT Collect
GutTrack does not collect, transmit, or store:
- Personal identification information (name, email, phone number) - except when you sign in with Google on Android for optional cloud sync
- Device identifiers or advertising IDs
- Location data
- Usage analytics or behavioral tracking data
- Crash reports or diagnostics (unless you explicitly send them via your device's OS)
- Cookies or similar tracking technologies
- IP addresses
- Contacts, camera, microphone, or other sensitive device permissions (beyond optional cloud storage access)
Note on Android permissions: The app requests INTERNET permission only for optional Google Drive sync. If you do not enable cloud sync, no network communication occurs.
How We Use Your Information
Since all data is stored locally on your device (and optionally in your personal cloud storage), Syntaxys Technologies does not use, process, or access your information. The App processes your health data locally on your device solely to:
- Display your health tracking entries
- Calculate daily statistics and insights
- Provide autocomplete suggestions based on your history
- Sync data across your devices via your iCloud account (iOS) or Google Drive (Android) if enabled
- Sync weight data with Apple Health (iOS only, if you grant permission)
Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not share, sell, rent, or disclose your personal information or health data to third parties.
Since we do not collect your data, there is nothing for us to share. Your health information remains:
- On your device (iOS or Android)
- In your personal iCloud account (iOS, if you enable iCloud sync)
- In your personal Google Drive app data (Android, if you enable Google Drive sync)
- In your Apple Health app (iOS only, if you grant HealthKit permissions)
The only exception would be if required by law, such as in response to a valid court order or subpoena. However, since we do not possess your data, we would have nothing to provide in such cases.
Data Security
Your data security is ensured through multiple layers:
Device-Level Security
- Data is stored using iOS secure local storage mechanisms
- Your device's passcode, Face ID, or Touch ID protects access to the App
- Data is protected by iOS sandboxing and app isolation
Cloud Storage Security
iOS (iCloud):
- iCloud data is encrypted in transit and at rest
- End-to-end encryption protects your synchronized data
- Two-factor authentication on your Apple ID provides additional security
Android (Google Drive):
- Data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS
- Google Drive encrypts data at rest using industry-standard encryption
- Stored in app-specific private folder, isolated from other apps and files
- Two-factor authentication on your Google account provides additional security
No Network Transmission
Because GutTrack does not send your health data to our servers or third-party services, there is no risk of data interception during network transmission to us.
Data Retention and Deletion
You control your data retention:
- Your health data is retained on your device until you delete it within the App or uninstall the App
- You can delete individual entries at any time by swiping left on entries
- Uninstalling the App will remove all locally stored data from your device
- iOS: iCloud-synced data will persist in your iCloud account according to Apple's retention policies until you delete it
- Android: Google Drive-synced data will persist in your Google Drive app data until you delete it or revoke app access
- iOS only: HealthKit data will remain in Apple Health until you delete it through the Health app
Since we do not store your data on our servers, there is nothing for us to delete when you stop using the App.
